Does realm matter in Dragonflight? ›

The only way realms still matters is in regards to raiding with guild as guilds aren't cross realm/connected realms.

Each realm is a complete instance of the game world, but has its own player characters who are tied to that particular realm. You should pick your realm based on where your friends are situated, but if you're starting out alone there are some other aspects to consider in the decision.

We have asked and Blizzard has answered: the new WoW patch notes finally add cross-realm Mythic raiding to the MMO, so be sure to do those Dragonflight raids. As someone whose main World of Warcraft character remains trapped on a separate realm from my friends, the new WoW patch notes are a dream come true.

Dragonflight Tier Sets Overview

In most cases, the item level of the tier set is not as important as the bonuses it gives you. So if you plan to play in Dragonflight high-end content, no matter if it is PvP or PvE, you can't make it without a set.

The realm region determines your realm's default time zone and the language spoken by the community on the realm. The realm type determines the gameplay content and playing experience.

Your game progress is tied to your Play Region, and isn't shared across regions. By default, you will play in your home region, which is determined by your country of residence. Choosing to play in a different region may negatively affect your connection to our servers.

Connected Realms are a set of two or more realms that have been permanently and seamlessly “linked.” When you play on a Connected Realm: The Auction House is shared between your realm and the realms connected to it. You can join a guild created on the realm connected to yours.
