In the six years following his disappearance, it is revealed that Michonne has assumed leadership over the Alexandria community and was pregnant at the time of Rick's supposed demise; she is now a parent to Rick's daughter Judith (Cailey Fleming), as well as their own child together, Rick Jr.
She opened up to him by saying she lost her son, Andre Anthony, early on during the zombie outbreak. Rick also knows about Michonne's son, but she must have told him off screen about it at some point. She referenced him indirectly on season eight to Rick after Carl's death.
The same story was done all over again in Season 7 when father-to-be Glenn was killed by Negan before he ever got to meet his future son, who wound up wearing his father's hat and having his late grandfather's name.

Andre Anthony, also known as Peanut to his mother, is a survivor of the outbreak in AMC's The Walking Dead. He is Michonne Grimes's son and the older half-brother of R.J. Grimes.
Why do Walkers ignore Michonne?
While fighting a walker, Michonne accidentally causes its guts to spill onto her, leading to other walkers subsequently ignoring her.

Michonne later explains to Carl that Andre was killed by zombies. Apparently, she was out on a supply run and Mike was too high on drugs to properly look after his son. His death, of course, had a tremendous impact on Michonne, and was an important factor in her mental state when she first joined the series.

Judith is the daughter of Lori Grimes and possibly Rick Grimes, and the younger sister of Carl Grimes. Judith's biological father could be either Rick or Shane, but Rick told Lori that he did not care if she was Shane's daughter because he will still love her as his daughter.
Yes, actress Danai Gurira has left the show, but Michonne's presence is still felt, as it's been made clear that she's off searching for her lost love Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) in the hopes that he's still alive.
