Not impressed
I have to admit that there was a difference of opinion, my wife loved it I was totally underwhelmed. It's supposed to be a ghost town if so how come everything looks so new. I'm sorry but it just didn't feel right they just seemed to want to extract more money from you there was even an extra charge to seem the mine workings when surely this should be included in the entrance fee. Just felt the whole thing was a waste of time with absolutely no sense of what it was like when it was a working mining town. Huge changes need to be made very quickly or the enterprise will go the same way as the mine.

Nice Day Trip
This was a fun place to spend the day away while we were staying in Vegas. It's only about two and a half hours away from Vegas and a very scenic drive there and back. It was fun to see the old mining town and to take the short train ride thru the town. They have a few little restaurants and other places to get a bite to eat and they also have some cute little stores to browse for souvenirs and other fun things.

Old days.
This is a fun place like was around in the 40's thru 70's. It is a old mining town and has the gun fights and people dressed up as when the town was in the 1800's. I LOVED the Gravity house, and the train ride. All the shops were friendly and the atmosphere was dedicated to FUN.

Overpriced and underwhelming.
The Bastow area is not exactly over endowed with tourist attractions, so you'd hope the ones they do have would be on their game. Not so here. First up, it's $15 per adult and $8 per child to get in, then they charge extra for taking part in any activity -$4 ea for the train, more again to walk through the mine. I think the biggest insult was that after parting with our money to walk through it, the "mine" was just a shot-creted, sanitised mine shaft, held together with modern rock bolts. You couldn't see anything most of the way and what you could see was garishly decorated for Halloween. In fact, this was true of the whole place, any authenticity and photo opportunities were lost to zombies and spider webs. The staff in the "shops" clearly didn't want to be there, with not so much as a smile or a greeting to be had. I doubt we will ever be in Barstow again, but I wouldn't make the effort to go back here if we were!

Good for the kids
Great work restoring this old town. If you dig in a little you will find it very educational. A good example of living at the time and some information on mining silver and what it took to mine and process into silver. Great half day out for the family.
