The fifth series of Glow Up: Britain's Next Make-Up Star opened auditions in late June 2022[1]. The season aired from May 2023 on BBC Three, hosted by Leomie Anderson, and judged by industry professionals Dominic Skinner and Val Garland. It premiered on 2nd May 2023.[2]
The series was won by Saphron Morgan, with Axel Band Roo finishing as runner-up.

About The Show[]
Get ready to witness the ultimate make-up showdown as Glow Up returns for its fifth series, welcoming brand-new host, Supermodel Leomie Anderson. Each week, 10 of the most talented aspiring make-up artists will be judged on their creative skills and ability to perform under pressure, in incredible Professional Assignments, from TV special FX to the Metaverse. Global beauty campaigns to social media lives plus creating drag looks and also preparing celebs make-up for a huge red carpet event.
At Glow Up Studios these skilled artists will push their creativity and technical abilities to the limit as they strive to impress the judges, the legendary Val Garland and Dominic Skinner. The two who fail to impress, go head-to-head in a Face Off, where they fight to escape elimination. After 8 weeks, the last make-up artist (MUA) standing wins a contract assisting some of the world’s top make-artists and is crowned Britain’s Next Make-up Star. It's a high-stakes competition that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish!

Format[]
Professional Assignment and Creative Brief[]
At the start of the episode, contestants face off in an Professional Assignment, where they work in a field that MUAs are required to work on. After the challenge, one (or more) contestant(s) are announced as the winner, and two contestants are selected to be in the Red Chair.
The following day, contestants are given a Creative Brief, where they must create a look. Red Chair contestants are given a 15-minute penalty. Afterwards, the judges critique looks and a final decision is made on who will enter the Face Off.

Red Chair Face Off[]
The Red Chair Face Off is the final elimination challenge. The "Red Chair" contestants are given a challenge focusing on one section of the face, and are given ten minutes to achieve perfection in the face. After ten minutes, the judges select who will pack up their make-up kit.
In the final episode, the Top 2 MUAs move forward to the Final Face Off, where they compete to win.
