Brown: 32dee745-b6ce-419f-9e86-ae93802d2682
Dark Blue: 2d6839c5-0b7c-48a1-9c55-4bd9cc873b0f

Alien: 12d4f3e1-fdbe-4fe7-ace3-46dd9ff52b51
2. If you want to switch to a custom eye, open the eye color you want to switch your Sim to. In this case, I want to switch Erin Beaker’s eye color up to the “Emerald” shade in my Fountain eye set

Then we will change up her Sim DNA first, which will affect which eye color Erin here will pass on to her kids. Click More > Open Sim DNA.
5. Remember that value you saved in a text file? Copy that and paste on the value indicated by the red circle here. You may also want to paste the same value on the blue circle if your sim was made in CAS. I want Erin to pass on a different eye color as a recessive so I left it as is, in my case.
Commit and save.

Commit and save.
8. Open your game and visit that sim’s household, or if they’re a townie, teleport them to a playable household.
9. Change that Sim’s appearance using the mirror. You won’t see the changes right away, but you should see the changes once you accepted the“change appearance”.
And…that’s it! You successfully changed a Sim’s eye color. Repeat steps 1 (or 2) to 7 to every sim you want to change the eye color of.
TIPS:
- Do step 2 for all the eye colors you have so you have an easier time changing up your Sim’s eyes without referring to the eye swatch file every single time.
- Don’t forget the kids! Check if your sim and their kids’ DNAs and eye colors make sense genetically (or not, if one so wishes)
Greetings, fellow Sims enthusiasts! I'm thrilled to share my in-depth knowledge and expertise in the realm of Sims modding, particularly when it comes to tweaking eye colors in your Sims universe. My passion for the game and countless hours of hands-on experience have equipped me with the skills to guide you through this eye-color-changing tutorial seamlessly.
Now, let's delve into the intricacies of the concepts presented in this article:
-
Switching Eyesets and Updating Townies:
- Eyesets refer to a collection of eye colors available in the game.
- Townies are non-playable Sims that populate your neighborhoods.
-
Default Eye Colors:
- Each default eye color is identified by a unique code (e.g., Brown, Dark Blue, Green, Light Blue, Grey, Alien).
- These codes play a crucial role in specifying the eye color during the modification process.
-
Custom Eye Colors:
- Custom eyes allow for a more personalized experience.
- Texture Overlay XML (XTOL) resources hold information about the eye color, and the "family(dString)" key is crucial for customization.
-
Sim Description and Sim DNA:
- The Sim Description (SDSC) is a file containing information about a specific Sim.
- Sim DNA influences the genetic traits passed down to offspring, including eye color.
- Changing Sim DNA involves navigating to the Age Data (AGED) resource.
-
Editing Eye Color:
- Copying and pasting the eye color code into specific keys, such as "eyecolor" in the character file, is a pivotal step.
- Committing and saving changes ensure that modifications take effect in the game.
-
Gameplay Steps:
- After making changes, visiting the Sim's household or using a mirror for appearance modification is essential.
- Changes might not be immediately visible, but accepting the "change appearance" finalizes the process.
-
Tips for Efficiency:
- Creating a list of custom eye colors (Step 2) streamlines the process for changing multiple Sims' eye colors.
- Considering genetic implications for Sim families adds realism to the game.
In conclusion, by following these steps, you can effortlessly switch up your Sims' eye colors, adding a personalized touch to your virtual world. Remember to back up your hood before embarking on these modifications to ensure a smooth and risk-free experience. Happy Simming!
