Poshmark Sellers: Answering Your Frequently Asked Questions! (2024)

I’ve been casually selling my pre-loved clothes on Poshmark since spring 2015. Personally, I found Poshmark to have a better overall selling experience than eBay, so I switched, and I’m still selling on Poshmark nearly six years later! It’s definitely at the top of best apps to sell secondhand clothing, and I’ve also enjoyed it for purchasing secondhand clothes, though I definitely sell more than I buy. (Highly recommend reading my best tips for making sales (and avoiding bad buyers) if you’re new to selling on Poshmark! I recently updated that post with the latest information.)

Today, I’m answering 10 of your most frequently asked questions related to selling on Poshmark! Feel free to ask me any other questions in the comments and I’ll try to answer ‘em.

Selling on Poshmark — Frequently Asked Questions

What do I do if I’m not making sales on Poshmark?

First: read my best tips for making sales (and avoiding bad buyers) if you’re new to selling. If you’ve made a few sales and are now in a dry spell, that’s normal, especially for casual sellers. I can go a month or so without making a sale and then suddenly make five within a week. It all depends on seasons, who is searching for what, and if they happen to find your items! Do the best you can with your photos, title, and description, keep sharing your items regularly, and don’t get discouraged. Try offering some price drops on Closet Clear Out days, re-listing older items (more on this below), and listing new items to keep your closet fresh!

What do I do if someone comments on my listing asking me to email them? Is that a scam? How can I remove Poshmark spam comments?

If someone comments on any of your listings asking you to email them, which sometimes happens immediately after listing a new item, it’s a scam. Don’t take any Poshmark transactions off of Poshmark. It’s against the TOS. If anyone is leaving spam or otherwise creepy comments, you can report the account, and on the comment, hit the light grey flag next to the Reply button under their comment. This marks the comment as spam and it will be automatically removed by Poshmark. Don’t reply to these comments—any comments you make on your own listings will stay there until you delete the listing. (Sold listings cannot be deleted.)

How do I use the Copy Listing feature?

The Copy Listing feature might just be my most favorite Poshmark update of the past year! You used to have to manually upload new photos and rewrite your descriptions if you wanted to re-list any of your old/stale items. Now, all you have to do is hit the Copy Listing button (found at the bottom when you edit your listing details, right next to Delete Listing) and Poshmark creates a copy of your listing with all of the same images, description, and other info! It’s awesome! Before copying, I recommend first editing the list price of your original listing back to a higher number so that when you create the copy, you can start fresh with price drops! Don’t forget to also remove the “COPY -” text that gets added to your title (and be sure to add back any title text that got cut off).

What does re-listing items do? Why should I re-list?

Deleting and re-listing old/stale items, even items with a lot of likes, pushes it back to the top of the Just In section, which can results in fresh eyeballs seeing your item and maybe hitting buy! If those original likers were interested in buying your items, they would have bought by now. (If you’re not sure where Just In is located, click on a brand in one of your listings, then tap on the up/down arrows on the right side of the screen, and then sort by Just In to see new items that were recently listed.) I’ve sold quite a few old/stale items by re-listing them—and I often sell them for prices higher than my lowest previously-listed price! FYI: If you use the Copy Listing feature less than 60 days after publishing a listing, it will NOT get pushed to the top of the Just In section.

What is a Poshmark guest buyer? Should I be worried/cancel their order?

A guest buyer is someone that found your item via Google search and didn’t want to make an account to check out, so Poshmark assigns them a “fake”/guest account name that doesn’t have a profile attached to it. Don’t fret! They’re perfectly safe to ship to (and more often than not, these buyers pay full price!). You will most likely have to wait the full three days before payment is released, because they won’t be able to accept it with their guest account. Guest buyers may create an account after making a purchase, so you might also see their username change. All normal! Most sellers will tell you that they LOVE guest buyers because they pay full price and don’t start drama!

How does Poshmark shipping work? Does the seller pay for shipping?

Shipping your Poshmark sales could not be easier! The buyer pays the shipping cost (unless you make a free shipping offer to the buyer and the money comes out of your earnings), and Poshmark automatically emails you a shipping label. Package your item in a regular brown box (feel free to reuse whatever boxes and other packing materials you have!) or in a Priority Mail box (note: do NOT use Priority Mail Express boxes), slap the label on, and drop it off at the post office, set up a package pickup at your house, or hand it to your mail carrier. (UPS and Fedex will not take it.) You MUST use the Poshmark-provided label or else you won’t be covered in case it’s lost in transit, or the buyer could claim they never received it and you’d be SOL.

If a buyer asks me to ship to a different address other than the one on the Poshmark shipping label, what do I do?

Remind your buyer that they can change their shipping address in the app, which will then generate a new label for you to use. Do NOT under any circ*mstances ship the package to an address not on the Poshmark-provided label. As I said above, Poshmark will not help you if your package is lost or if the buyer scams you out of the sale. Only use the Poshmark-provided label and ship to whatever address is on the label. The buyer will have to figure the rest out from there.

What if a buyer does not accept their order? What if a buyer doesn’t rate me or leave a Love Note?

Buyers have three full days to accept their order. Don’t nag them to accept it—the minute those three days are up, the funds will be released to you. Poshmark automatically sends reminders to accept orders. Not all buyers will rate, and not all 5-star reviewers will leave a Love Note (comments left with 5-star reviews—these are visible on a user’s profile). Don’t get hung up on those. As long as the order is accepted with no case opened, all is well because you got paid!

Can I rate a buyer on Poshmark? Can I remove Love Notes from my profile?

Unfortunately, no, sellers are not able to rate buyers like buyers rate sellers. If you had a difficult buyer, you can warn others by leaving a comment on their Meet the Posher listing (if they have one). You can also remove Love Notes—some buyers will rate 5 stars and then leave a nasty/untrue Love Note because they know those are visible to others. My best advice is to block someone truly nasty but hopefully you won’t have to deal with any of those buyers!

Where can I go to ask more questions or chat about all things Poshmark?

Feel free to pop any other questions you may have in the comments below and I can try to answer! Otherwise, my favorite resource is the Poshmark subreddit! It’s chock full of full-time and casual sellers AND buyers sharing tips, tricks, best practices, and other information.
