If you can't be one in real life, you can always try in The Sims 4.

By placing the EZ Exit Window on your home builds in The Sims 4: High School Years, eager Sims can disobey the rules and live by their own command, free to come and go as they please without mom or dad finding out. Teenage freedom just got a whole lot more accessible!

How To Sneak Out

There are plenty of reasons a Teen Sim may want to sneak out of the house. Maybe they got an invitation to an event, but they need to get past their parents first.

If your Teen Sim has gotten an invitation from a friend to join them, you can have them first ask their parents or caregivers - if they say yes, then you're all set and don't need to sneak out at all.

To sneak out of the house in The Sims 4, you'll need a few Build/Buy Mode items first - an EZ Exit Window, and a trellis if the house sits on a foundation or the window is on an upper level of the home.

Trying to sneak out by clicking the ground outside can be tricky, as Sims will default to using normal doors before using the EZ Exit Window.

Locking bedroom and exterior doors can help coax them to do it on their own, but this is limiting to other Sims in the house.

However, you'll need to be careful not to get caught by either your parents or your caregivers!

Any Adult Sim from the household who catches the Teen Sim sneaking out will give them a lecture (on Responsibility, if you're playing with Parenthood) that results in negative moodlets and the Teen returning home.

To circumvent this, it's best to try to sneak out when Adult Sims are busy. It doesn't matter if they're sleeping, working, or otherwise preoccupied in the house - as long as they can't see the Teen Sim sneak out.

Tips For Placing EZ Exit Windows And Trellises

When placing the EZ Exit Window in Build/Buy mode, be sure the grid below the window is green when you confirm its placement.

Orange means the window cannot be used to sneakout and must be repositioned if you'd like to do so, so be mindful of where you're putting the EZ Exit Window when you build your houses.

Sims can sneak out from higher floors or houses with foundations, but they're going to need one of the trellises that came with the High School Years pack to climb down to perform the action.

The trellis needs to let them down on either stable ground or a balcony/patio outside the home, or they'll be unable to use the Sneak Out action.

Additionally, your Sims must be able to access the EZ Exit Window from both sides. Like regular doors and walkways, your Sims can't use the EZ Exit Window if something is in the way on either side.
