Why can't our Sick Sims go to the hospital? - Page 3 (2024)

I wish there was more to illnesses in this game, so disappointed at the current system. Buy a bottle on the computer, tadaa!

I want to see a doctor and maybe risk my sims life in severe cases.

yeah, it's super lame right now. even if you do nothing the illness always goes away after a bit. I usually just get my sims happy enough to ignore it till the time runs out (since you can see how long it will be in the moodlet, lol). It would be amazing if illness was a really a THING in the story.

I could imagine a kind of tiered system--different illnesses with different severities, and different consistent cures--so some mild illnesses might make sense to just wait out. Others would linger if they weren't treated properly--with rest, or tea, or stuff like that. Maybe there could be home remedies that would be needed for tier 3, and you'd need to gather the right planst to make the right cure (it'd be cool if herbology could be incorporated there, but that would require different packs to interact with each other, so yeah...). And then tier 4 would NEED to go the hospital, otherwise it wouldn't go away. And the last tier would need to go the hospital, and neglecting to do so for too long would result in DEATH. These last ones would be super rare--maybe only once in, like, 5 or more sim lifetimes--but you'd know they were out there. I'd be into that.

Presuming of course that they scale back on how often sims get sick--right now in a 4+ household, someone is ALWAYS sick it seems, so I wouldn't want greater severity with that frequency. I'd really prefer something with a little more depth and less prevalence. It wouldn't happen as often, but when it did it would MATTER. Right now it's just another annoyance, and doesn't really add much. I'd almost rather there were no illness at all than the weak-sauce, repetitive, version we have now. In that sense, I agree with someone here who said the intent was just to serve the doctor career--they really didn't care about the impact on the world outside of that.
