Prevent mic and camera use

Before the meeting

After schedulingthe meeting and sendingout the invite, the meeting organizer can disable the mics and cameras so that attendees can't use them during the meeting. All attendees (but not presenters) will join the meeting with mic and camera off.

  1. Go to Calendar and double-click the meeting.

  2. Select More options Manage attendee audio and video permissions in Microsoft Teams meetings (1)>Meeting options near the top of the screen.

  3. Select Audio & video Manage attendee audio and video permissions in Microsoft Teams meetings (2).

  4. Turn offthe Allow mic for attendeesor Allow camera for attendeestoggles.

  5. Select Save.

During the meeting

The organizer and presenters can disable the mic or cameraof all the attendees, or of individuals, at any time during the meeting.

Note:Currently this option isn't available to organizers and presenters who join the meeting fromTeams room devices.

To disable all attendeemics or cameras

  1. In the meeting controls, select More actions Manage attendee audio and video permissions in Microsoft Teams meetings (3)> Settings Manage attendee audio and video permissions in Microsoft Teams meetings (4)> Meeting options Manage attendee audio and video permissions in Microsoft Teams meetings (5).

  2. Select Audio & video Manage attendee audio and video permissions in Microsoft Teams meetings (6).

  3. Turn offthe Allow mic for attendeesor Allow camera for attendeestoggles.

  4. Select Save.

Attendee mics and cameras will appear dimmed.

If later you want to enable everyone's mic or camera, selectMore options

again and then Allow mic for attendees or Allow camera for attendees.

Mute an attendee

To mute a specific attendee, without turning off mics:

  1. Select People Manage attendee audio and video permissions in Microsoft Teams meetings (8).

  2. In the Participants pane, hover over the person you want to mute.

  3. Select More options Manage attendee audio and video permissions in Microsoft Teams meetings (9)> Mute participantManage attendee audio and video permissions in Microsoft Teams meetings (10).

To mute all participants without disabling their mics, selectMute all.

Tip:Attendees can signal that they want to speak by raising their hands.

Attendee mics and cameras will appear dimmed.

Tip:If you just want to mute participants without disabling their mics, goto the participant list and selectMute all next to In the meeting.

To disable an individual's mic or camera

  • Select and hold the person's name, either on the main screen or in the participantlist, and then select Disable mic or Disable camera.

Tip:Attendees can signal that they want to speak by raising their hand.

Allow someone to unmuteor share their video

  • Select and hold the person's name, either on the main screen or in the participantlist, and then select Allow micor Allow camera.

Thatperson can now use their mic or camera.
